Nasty Weekend Again: Snow, Rain, Wind on the Way for Eastern Half of US
The storm could bring wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour and flooding rains
Millions of people will feel the effects of heavy rainfall expected to spread from the Gulf Coast to the East Coast this weekend.
The storms could bring damaging winds, especially along the East Coast where gusts could top 50 miles per hour. Downed trees and power lines could lead to scattered power outages.
The rain will start on Saturday in the South with Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama getting severe storms that will move into Arkansas, Tennessee and Kentucky.
The storm will then bend to the east as it continues heading north.
Areas of Virginia through Maine could see 2 to 3 inches of rain. Minor coastal flooding is possible along the Mid-Atlanic to New England coasts Sunday night into Monday morning.
The heavy rain on Sunday afternoon through Monday also could lead to urban or small-stream flooding.
NFL games in New Jersey and Baltimore on Sunday are expected to face rain and strong winds, according to the Weather Channel.
