WATCH: Price Unveiling of Apple’s Vision Pro VR Headset Triggers Shock and Awe
Seven years of development culminate with the new device, slated for release in 2024, carrying a hefty price tag of $3,500
Apple unveiled its much-awaited VR headset, the Vision Pro, on Monday during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, also known as WWDC 2023.
"With the Vision Pro, your interaction is no longer restricted by a display," proclaimed Apple CEO Tim Cook while presenting the new headset.
The technology, according to insiders, is poised to supplant smartphones in the future. Cook believes that Vision Pro will "revolutionize the way we communicate, collaborate, work, and entertain ourselves."
The announcement detailed that the device will operate on a brand new VisionOS, designed explicitly for spatial computing. This will allow users to interact with Apple iOS via their eyes, hands, and voice, thereby providing access to apps and other features currently available on iPhones and computers. The Vision Pro is equipped with 23 million pixels across two displays.
While worldwide anticipation for this announcement was palpable, video footage of the event revealed a collective gasp when the price tag was disclosed.

Seven years of development culminate with the new device, slated for release in 2024, carrying a hefty price tag of $3,500, as reported by The Sun.
Swiftly seizing the opportunity, social media users began churning out humorous memes and graphics. These not only highlighted the steep price of the new Apple product but also the device's limited two-hour use time under a "$3500" investment.
The outlet noted that while Apple products often carry a premium, the pricing for this particular device caught many off-guard. Until this revelation, the most expensive luxury VR headsets on the market were the Meta Quest Pro and the HTC Vive XR Elite, both priced above $1,000.
