A tornado hit northwest Florida on Monday morning, the latest in a spate of severe weather that battered many central Gulf Coast states over the weekend.

A video shared by Florida resident Noah Mast on Twitter showed what appears to be a tornado moving through Destin, a city in the Florida Panhandle.

"Oh my god, it's hitting the buildings," a woman is heard saying in the footage, which also showed a busy shopping center a short distance away.

The funnel-like cloud appeared to dissipate about 10 seconds into the 26-second video. The National Weather Service confirmed the tornado touched down around 11 a.m., ABC affiliate WMBB reported.

In Mississippi, a tornado struck the town of Louin late Sunday night, causing one fatality and injuring 19 people, the New York Times reported. The tornado destroyed about 20 to 30 structures, authorities told the outlet.

The victim of the tornado was identified as George Jean Hayes, a 67-year-old who was pronounced dead at Southern Central Regional Medical Center.

Per the Times, many of the injured were in stable condition or had been discharged from the hospital, while additional victims were expected to arrive later.

Eight people were also trapped inside an M&M Bank in Moss Point, Miss., after a tornado hit the area on Monday afternoon, SuperTalk Mississippi News reports.

According to CNN, severe weather — and at least eight tornadoes — was reported across Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and the Gulf Coast on Sunday.

The outlet reported that power outages had affected more than 470,000 customers, with Oklahoma being the hardest-hit state.

“Due to the level of damage and hazards, this will be a multi-day recovery event,” the Public Service Company of Oklahoma said on social media. “Estimated times of restoration for customers who can accept power will be available Monday morning.”

The City of Tulsa in Oklahoma has reported numerous downed power poles and lines, prompting officials to urge residents to stay home and off the roads.

In Texas, a tornado caused extensive damage in Perryton, leaving three people dead and over 1,000 customers without electricity, the Associated Press reported.

Heat warnings were also issued along the Gulf Coast, with excessive heat indexes reaching 120 degrees. Cooling shelters were set up to assist those without electricity.

In Florida, a waterspout landed in Clearwater, causing items to soar into the air on Friday, per AP. At least two people were injured.
