Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee is considering arguments Wednesday on motions by pro-Trump attorneys Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro to dismiss charges in the Georgia election-racketeering case ahead of their trial later this month
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee is presiding Wednesday over arguments regarding motions by two former attorneys for former President Donald Trump seeking to dismiss the charges against them in the sweeping 2020 Georgia election racketeering case.
Arguments are expected regarding four separate motions by former Trump election attorneys Kenneth Chesebro and Sidney Powell challenging the validity of the racketeering charge both are facing.
Powell and Chesebro, who have both pleaded not guilty, have invoked their right to a speedy trial under Georgia law, and their cases were severed from the other co-defendants in the case. They are scheduled to stand trial in less than two weeks, with jury selection starting Oct. 20.
The hearing was scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. EST and is being livestreamed on McAfee's YouTube channel.
