WATCH: Groggy Bull Wakes Up at Sanctuary Farm After Escaping Slaughterhouse, Running Wild on New Jersey Transit
The moment a Sleepy Ricardo woke up at his new home at Skylands Animal Sanctuary has been captured on video
The moment a groggy bull woke up at his new home at an animal sanctuary after an escape from a slaughterhouse that saw the animal snarl train traffic at Newark's Penn Station in New Jersey has been captured on video.
The wayward bull, now named Ricardo, was tranquilized as authorities wrangled the animal into captivity on Thursday.
Now a resident of Skylands Animal Sanctuary in Wantage, the sanctuary has shared a video showing a sleepy Ricardo waking up after the ordeal later that day.
"Do you know who I am? I'm you're new dad," a person speaking to Ricardo in the video says. "You're good, buddy. You're safe now. Nobody's gonna mess with you anymore. Look how handsome you are. You just worry about feeling better, drink a lot of water. All right, we'll set you up. Good boy. Good boy."
Rescuers said the animal had a “long, rough day of fighting for his life" on Thursday. The animal's escape had delayed train service that morning between New York City and Newark as it stood on the tracks.
On Friday, the sanctuary shared another update on Facebook, describing the improvements to Ricardo's health over the past day.
