As intense rainstorms hit parts of the Northeast this week, a Pennsylvania man posted a video on social media showing himself helplessly watching his car being swept away in floodwaters.

Damian Hernandez posted a video to Facebook showing his blue car being swept away in Reading.

He joked that his car “turned into Michael Phelp(s).”

The car hit a bulldozer as it was pushed down the street.

Hernandez said his car was a total loss.

Severe storms dropped several inches of rain in southeastern Pennsylvania on Sunday, prompting flood warnings, according to the National Weather Service.

Reading was under a Flash Flood Warning until 7:15 p.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

The Red Cross said 40 people, five pets and 24 apartment units were affected by the flooding. A shelter was set up at a Reading school.

The same storm caused extensive flooding in New York on Sunday and flooding in Vermont on Monday.
