A Utah woman allegedly stabbed her boyfriend after an argument about house cleaning turned violent on Sunday.

The woman, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim, told police that she was drinking with her boyfriend when the two began arguing about cleaning the house, ABC4 reported, citing court documents.

The man allegedly pushed his girlfriend while she was slicing lemons. She reportedly held up the knife she was using and said she would defend herself, according to the station.

Her boyfriend allegedly pushed her again in response.

Court documents said the woman “threw her hands up” and “accidentally sliced [her boyfriend] with the knife.”

Responding officers with the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) found the boyfriend with a knife wound on the back of his left shoulder and a “large amount” of blood in the apartment.

SLCPD determined that the woman had “intentionally caused injury” since she said she would defend herself while holding the knife as a weapon, the station reported.

She is facing third-degree felony charges of aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and domestic violence in the presence of a child, according to a police booking affidavit obtained by ABC4.

The couple share a one-year-old child who was at home at the time of the incident.
