If it's time for a hair refresh, consider the new trend taking over TikTok — the jellyfish haircut.

"Jellyfish haircut" has been viewed over 200 million times on the social media platform. The cut has a top section that resembles a bowl cut, similar to the dome-shaped part of a jellyfish. The rest of the hair is left long to mimic the sea creature's tentacles.

"It's essentially a version of a mullet that plays on shapes and contrasting lines," Gregory Patterson, celebrity hairstylist and color and styling expert for Sally Beauty, told POPSUGAR.

The trend borrows from the hime cut, which originated in ancient Japan and remains popular in Japanese culture, according to Dazed Digital.

The style often features brightly colored hair to make the sections stand out.

The cut can be styled a variety of ways or worn naturally.

Despite some positive reviews, others were not so pleased with the cut. One user said the style only looks good when the bottom part is braided.

Another shared what the cut looks like from the back, and said she regrets getting the style.
