A man was arrested after it was discovered he was transporting $86,000 "disguised as sandwiches" in his semi-truck.

Essex Police were alerted about a truck driving the wrong way in to potentially avoid detection at Harwich port. When they performed a routine check of the truck, officers discovered a bag containing silver foil packets was hiding £70,000 in cash, according to the BBC.

Driver Mariusz Raczynski was arrested after admitting to concealing criminal property and was sentenced to 20 weeks in jail.

"In this case, our Rural Engagement Team colleagues were very proactive and alert to what was happening, meaning an arrest was quickly made," Detective Con Megan Tighe said. "As the Proactive Money Laundering Team we've worked hard to build the case and prove that the seized cash could only have come from crime."
