Three bodies were found on Saturday inside a 1983 Oldsmobile by a Florida group of sonar enthusiasts, called upon to help in an unrelated cold case.

A team from Sunshine State Sonar was looking for any clues about the disappearance of Libby Dibenedetto on June 12, 2000.

The woman, then 59, was last seen leaving Duke's Bar and Grill in Davie, Florida. She was driving a beige Toyota Camry adorned with Florida Marlins and Miami Dolphins stickers.

Over the weekend, "this vehicle was located on sonar in a retention pond in front of the Sawgrass Mills Mall in Sunrise, Florida," the group revealed via Facebook.

But the car was an Oldsmobile. Found around 11 a.m., it "was submerged in 24 feet of water at the entrance of the mall parking lot."

Officials are now trying to determine the identities of the bodies found in the car.

"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims' families," the group said in a Facebook post.

Sunrise Police helped pull the Oldsmobile from the pond. It's unclear for how long the bodies and vehicle were submerged.

Sunshine State Sonar is a nonprofit volunteer search team that utilizes sonar technology to locate vehicles, boats, or missing persons.
