'We attacked above ground and below ground,' said Israel's defense minister. 'We attacked terror operatives of all ranks, in all places'

Gaza “shook” as Israel “moved to a new phase” of its war on Hamas overnight, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said Saturday — with photos capturing the devastation brought by the latest round of airstrikes.

Some 100 Israeli fighter jets rained destruction on Gaza overnight Friday into Saturday, targeting approximately 150 Hamas-linked installations, according to the Israel Defense Forces.

The stepped-up aerial assault came as the IDF launched another ground incursion including infantry, armor and artillery, the latest in increasingly frequent operations widely seen as the precursor to a full-scale invasion.

“The earth in Gaza shook,” said Gallant, according to the Times of Israel. “We attacked above ground and below ground, we attacked terror operatives of all ranks, in all places. The commands to the forces are clear: The operation will continue until a new order.”

The fierce attacks signaled that the war, launched in response to a Hamas terror attack that killed over 1400 Israelis, had “moved to a new phase,” Gallant said, though Israeli officials are yet to publicly announce the all-out invasion anticipated in the three weeks since the surprise incursion, during which militants invaded Israel from land, air and sea.

During the surprise incursion, Hamas terrorists were seen in GoPro and dashcam videos going house to house, killing at random while also taking hostages. Reporters on the scene of kibbutz's attacked by the group described horrifying scenes of murdered babies and raped bodies of Israeli women.

Hamas terrorists also sacked a music festival, killing at least 200 attendees as they ran for their lives from the initial rocket barrage. Survivors of the attack described how Hamas fighters fired assault rifles into fleeing crowds, killing indiscriminately.

Persistent Israeli airstrikes have shaken Gaza since the October 7 attacks, reducing high-rises and homes to rubble. According to the Hamas-run Palestinian Health Ministry, over 7,300 people have now been killed in Gaza since the start of the war.

A different Israeli airdrop came Saturday, in the form of leaflets warning those remaining in northern Gaza and Gaza City to flee south “immediately.”

Gaza City, the leaflets said, was now a “battlefield.”

Thousands of Palestinians had already fled Gaza’s north en masse in recent weeks, southbound by car and truck, donkey and foot.

Southern Gaza has become packed with refugees unable to go any further with a tight Israeli blockade around the territory.

While Gazans — and stranded foreign nationals — have been unable to get out, supplies have been largely unable to get in, leading to dire shortages of food, water, medicine and fuel.

Gaza was further isolated this week when phone and internet service virtually vanished, with Palestinian telecom companies blaming the sweeping outage on the constant Israeli airstrikes.
