A wildfire disrupted Thanksgiving gatherings for certain residences in the San Diego area.

A fast-moving brush fire in Jamul, California — around 20 miles east of San Diego — prompted evacuation orders in the area as Cal Fire Firefighters fought to contain the inferno, the agency said.

The fire started around 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, and an evacuation order was issued to an unknown number of residences at around 3 p.m.

By 4 p.m., the evacuation order was lifted, according to a statement from the San Diego Sheriff.

As of around 5:15 p.m., the agency said firefighters achieved 5% containment of the fire and stopped the forward spread at 39 acres.

Multiple roads in the area remain closed as crews continue to contain the fire, though certain lanes will be reopened through the night, according to the agency.
