In Georgia, there were 14 reported traffic fatalities — with five of the deaths linked to a Ford van slamming head-on into a Ram pickup truck, according to the Georgia Department of Public Safety.

The five individuals who died were all inside the van, while the pickup truck driver suffered a severe injury, according to NBC News.

Four adults died, while one person was injured in South Park, Calif., after a driver lost control of a black BMW M3 on State Route 94.

The victims there included the male driver, as well as one male and two female passengers, according to NBC News.

A surviving female passenger was treated for minor injuries at a nearby hospital.

There were also multiple instances of car accidents leaving victims with severe injuries on Thanksgiving Day.

In Maryland, two individuals were injured in a 10-car crash, while an accident in Sacramento left seven adults and two children severely injured, according to NBC News.

An estimated 55.4 million Americans were expected to travel by car for the holiday, according to projections from AAA.

This year’s projections were the third-highest since tracking began in 2000 and the highest since the Covid-19 pandemic began.
