Police Identify Shooter That Sent Texas State Fair Crowds Running For Their Lives, Injuring Three
Cameron Turner, 22, is believed to have fired the weapon after feeling threatened
A suspect was taken into custody for a shooting that occurred Saturday night at the State Fair of Texas that left three people injured, Officials with the Dallas Police Department said.
Cameron Turner, 22, is believed to have fired the weapon in the food court area of the fair, according to a report from WFAA. Police Sources tell the local news outlet that Turner was getting a drink when he saw three people approach him. feeling threatened, he pulled out his weapon in self-defense.
Victims who survived the shooting sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to the hospital in stable condition.
Police sources also told WFAA that a second possible suspect was also brought into custody, but was released a short time later after it was determined that he had no involvement in the shooting.
A video that was shot from the top of the Ferris wheel showed panicked fairgoers fleeing as they evacuated the fairgrounds.
Dallas City Council member Adam R. Bazaldua said on X that the shooting erupted from a conflict between two people who knew each other.

"It's one thing to have a right to bear arms, it's another to have legislation, like permit-less carry, that makes it easier for senseless acts of gun violence like this to be carried out in our state," Bazaldua said. "I wish our Republican friends in Austin would pass meaningful gun legislation to help our constituents feel safe in public."
Weapons of any kind are banned on fairgrounds per the fair's policy.
State Fair of Texas issued an emergency order for evacuation following the shooting but announced that it plans to reopen at 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon local time.
