Police have identified two of the six victims killed in a brutal shooting spree in Texas on Tuesday.

Emmanuel Pop Ba and Sabrina Rahman were among the four people fatally shot in Austin, according to the Austin Police Department. Several others were wounded, and two additional victims were found dead in San Antonio.

Austin police officers responded to reports of one of the shootings just before noon. They found Pop Ba and Rahman with gunshot wounds, officials said in an update on Wednesday.

Pop Ba was pronounced dead at the scene. Rahman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Shane James, the suspect in the deaths of Pop Ba and Rahman, was later linked to three additional shootings in the city in a spree that went on for hours, police said.

During one of those incidents, James allegedly opened fire on police responding to a burglary call. One officer suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Two people were later found dead inside the home.

Authorities have not yet publicly identified the other victims and said more details will be released separately.

The injured included two police officers and a bicyclist, police said.

Police said they chased James after he fled the scene of the burglary call. The pursuit ended in a crash and his arrest, according to authorities.

James was booked into Travis County Jail on four counts of capital murder and an outstanding assault with injury family violence warrant. Additional charges are anticipated, police said.

James is also accused of the deaths of a man and a woman in San Antonio and may have ties to the couple. The victims were found inside a home listed as James' address in public records, per a report.

James was an infantry officer in the Army from February 2013 to August 2015, but he was never deployed. His last rank held was first lieutenant.
