Teen Hospitalized After Cop Allegedly Slams Her Into the Concrete While Trying to Disperse Fight
The mother of the teenage girl said she plans to take legal action against law enforcement
A brawl at a southern California high school landed one teenager in jail after a sheriff’s deputy slammed the girl into the ground.
At around 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department responded to reports of a large fight that broke out during a homecoming football game at Victor Valley High School, according to a news release from the department.
According to the sheriff’s office, the first deputy to arrive at the scene fired pepper balls into the crowd in an attempt to disperse the multiple fights taking place in the parking lot. The plan apparently backfired as the sheriff’s office said it made the brawl focus on the law enforcement official, according to the department.
When more deputies arrived, another round of pepper balls were hurled into the group of brawlers, the sheriff’s department said. Then, a 16-year-old girl reportedly grabbed the pepper ball launcher from the deputy. That is when the deputy allegedly picked up the teenager and slammed her into the ground — a move caught on cell phone camera footage.
The sheriff’s department described the incident as a deputy “pulled the female away causing her to land on the ground.”
“He picked my daughter up and he just tossed her,” Priscilla Jeffers, the girl’s mother, told local news station KTLA. “He just threw her on the floor with no remorse. She has back injuries from where he threw her forcefully on the asphalt and she has a fractured shoulder and her whole head has bumps and bruises.”

Immediately after the teenage girl was thrown to the ground, a 16-year-old boy allegedly approached the deputy and punched him in the face, according to the sheriff’s department. He was taken into custody and booked into juvenile detention and the girl was transported to the hospital, the sheriff’s department said. Officials said a report about both the 16-year-olds in the incident will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
According to Jeffers, her daughter was confronted by her bully, who goes to a different school, at the football game which led to the altercation, according to KTLA.
Jeffers said she plans to take legal action against the sheriff’s department. In the news release from the sheriff's department, the deputy was listed as the victim and the two teenagers were listed as suspects.
“We are citizens, we are taxpayers and they’re supposed to protect us,” she said. “Not hurt our kids at all. I think it’s wrong they did that.”
