In their quest to get ahead at work, a growing portion of the tech industry is turning to drugs like psilocybin, ketamine, and LSD for inspiration and focus. While these mind-altering substances would typically be reserved for post-work relaxation, the tech world is now embracing microdosing as a part of its work routine.

Karl Goldfield, a former consultant who currently aids Silicon Valley tech professionals in finding their ideal dosage, told The Wall Street Journal that microdosing is "the fastest path to opening your mind up and clearly seeing for yourself what’s going on."

Even prominent tech figures like Elon Musk appear to have embraced psychedelics in the workplace. Multiple individuals claim to have witnessed him using ketamine, though he has not confirmed these claims himself.

Spencer Shulem, CEO of the startup BuildBetter.ai, uses LSD about four times a year and occasionally microdoses. He finds that acid helps him become more creative and effective, a requisite for staying competitive in the tech industry.

"They don’t want a normal person, a normal company," Shulem said. "They want something extraordinary. You’re not born extraordinary.
