Taylor Swift Attacks ‘Painful’ LGBTQ Laws at Eras Tour Concert
"You Need to Calm Down" singer rips "harmful" legislation that puts people "at risk."
"You need to Calm Down" singer Taylor Swift savaged a spate of new laws attacking the LGBTQ community at an Eras Tour concert in Chicago.
She began at the Friday concert hailing members of the LGBTQ community as “incredible individuals who are living authentically and beautifully," assuring her LGBTQ Swifties to wild cheers: "This is a safe space for you."
But then she added: “We can’t talk about pride without talking about pain," singling out the laws.
"Right now and recently there have been so many harmful pieces of legislation that have put people in the LGBTQ+ and queer community at risk," Swift continued.
"It’s painful for everyone. Every ally. Every loved one. Every person in these communities," she said.

But she warned that support for the community has to be backed up with mobilization at the voting booth.
“We can support as much as we want during Pride month, but if we’re not doing our research on these elected officials – Are they advocates? Are they allies? Are they protectors of equality? Do I want to vote for them?” the situation will not change, she told the crowd.
