After a seven-month trip overseas, a Florida man returned home to a squatter living in his house, prompting an armed confrontation between the pair, according to local media.

Jail records indicate Ze’Moye Brown has been charged with trespassing, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance without a prescription.

It’s unclear if he entered a plea to the charges or retained an attorney to comment on his behalf.

Citing the arrest affidavit, WOFL-TV reported that the homeowner came back to his house in Ocala, Fla., on June 9 to find it had been burglarized and destroyed. Suspecting someone had been squatting in it while he was away, the homeowner hid in a closet and waited for Brown, 26, to return.

When Brown allegedly came back to the house, the homeowner confronted him and fired a shot into a corner of the front door. Brown then ran out of the home and called 911 to report he was shot at, per the outlet.

Brown allegedly admitted to living at the home by himself for “a few months,” but denied burglarizing it, the station reports, per the affidavit.

The homeowner decided to press charges against Brown.

Upon his arrest, Brown was allegedly captured with methamphetamine and marijuana on his person.

He is being held on $3500 bond, jail records show.
