Rare Spice Girls Poster Swiped From San Francisco Shop Restroom for Second Time

A California business is offering a reward to anyone who can solve a particularly “Scary” crime – a rare Spice Girls poster was snatched from its bathroom in October and has been missing ever since.

So here's a story from A to Z.

For years, Free Gold Watch, a print shop and arcade, proudly displayed a poster featuring Mel B (Scary), Mel C (Sporty), Victoria Beckham (Posh) and Emma Bunton (Baby), advertising their 1998 performance at the Shoreline Amphitheatre, according to SFGate.

Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) was already missing because she had left the group before the concert.

The poster disappeared on the unlucky date of Friday, October 13 – though employees were unaware of the theft until the following morning, SFGate reported.

This was the second instance of the unique mosaic poster being stolen. Will this déjà vu never end?

It was first filched from the Free Gold Watch women’s bathroom in 2018. San Francisco artist Jason Mecier reproduced the original poster – which owner Matthew Henri secured behind plexiglass.

“It wasn’t the same security as the Mona Lisa or anything, but for the ladies’ room here at Free Gold Watch, we thought it was sufficient,” Henri told SFGate. “Obviously we were mistaken.”

Though six weeks have elapsed since the original theft – which Henri described a “travesty” in an email to The Messenger – there is still no sign of the poster.

“I'm not sure if the persons who might have information are scared to come forward,” Henri said.

“In the meantime, an anonymous donor has sent us a replacement and it has been fortified with electronic devices to prevent it from being stolen again.”

While the new security may encourage “Wannabe” thieves to “stop right now,” Henri hasn’t given up hope on finding the old poster.

“We are still seeking the original's safe return and are offering a $100 reward for it,” he said.
