A South Carolina fugitive is still on the run after a local sheriff's office featured the 31-year-old in a local news channel's "Most Wanted" segment, then lost his trail during an on-foot pursuit.

"Welp, this knucklehead right here's name is Jacob Ryan Mims," Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright told FOX Carolina News on Dec. 20.

Mims is wanted for attempted murder, resisting arrest, escape, removing an ankle monitor, and "habitual traffic" violations, among numerous other charges, Wright said.

Hours after the segment aired, the Sheriff's Office received a tip from someone who shared Mim's potential whereabouts.

Law enforcement found him in the passenger's seat of a woman's car. The driver did pull over when law enforcement signaled to her, but Mims fled behind a Publix supermarket.

Investigators set up a perimeter and used canines to track the suspect, but Mims, who has 14 active bench warrants, managed to escape.

"Everywhere he goes, he carries a weapon with him," Wright warned during the news segment. "He's gonna kill somebody, and we don't want that, of course."

Wright explained that on one previous occasion, police tried to pull Mims over because he was speeding down the wrong side of the highway.

The Sheriff's Office said Mims should be considered armed and dangerous and reportedly threatened to attempt suicide if approached by law enforcement.

Anyone with information about Mims' location can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or visit spartanburgcs.com.
