A man suspected of robbing a North Carolina ATM was arrested after authorities in South Carolina allegedly found $95,000 in his car during a traffic stop.

Anderson County Sheriff’s deputies took Charley Curry, 30, into custody after making the discovery, the sheriff’s office announced in a release on Sunday. The sheriff’s office said that it suspects Curry is one of the thieves who recently robbed an ATM in Charlotte.

A patrol unit pulled over Currey while he was in Anderson County, the release said, explaining that $95,700 was found inside a backpack that was in the back seat of his Nissan Maxima.

The arrest comes after the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said it had taken the initiative to assist the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department in searching for an armed robbery suspect.

“Details reveal Curry and a group of suspects were behind stealing thousands from an ATM recently in Charlotte,” Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said in its release.

Curry is currently being held at the Anderson County Detention Center, according to the sheriff’s office’s release, but “all charges will come from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police regarding this specific case,” it added.

Curry is a native of Houston, Texas.
