A sixth inmate at a troubled Georgia jail has died in just over a month.

Shawndre Delmore, 24, died Sunday at an Atlanta hospital after being found unresponsive in the Fulton County Jail.

Jail staff attempted to revive Delmore until medical staff arrived, and he was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died, according to the Associated Press.

The federal government already is investigating the jail for possible civil rights violations.

The U.S. Department of Justice in July opened a civil rights investigation into jail conditions in the county, citing violence, filthy conditions and the death last year of a man whose body was found covered in insects.

Kristen Clarke, Assistant Attorney General for Civil Rights at the DOJ, cited "exceedingly poor conditions" at the jail in a news conference announcing the probe. She described large holes in walls and flooding in housing units, and a level of violence in the jail that is “deeply concerning.”

The sheriff has said that inmates are crafting shanks from the crumbling walls.

“We have had an unfortunate series of deaths this year that range from natural causes to pre-existing health conditions to homicide,” Sheriff Patrick Labat said.

There is an “urgent need for a replacement jail,” he said.

Footage released earlier this year by Atlanta TV station WAGA-TV showed flooding, detainees sleeping in hallways, doors off their hinges and disintegrating walls.

Former President Donald Trump and 18 others indicted along with him surrendered at the jail for booking on charges related to an alleged scheme to overturn the results of the 2020 election in Georgia.

Following his surrender at the jail, Trump called the facility "violent" and "falling apart."

It's "worse than you could even imagine," he said in a fundraising email to his supporters.
