Chilling video shows Shani Louk, the German-Israeli woman who was paraded through the streets of Gaza after she was kidnapped at a music festival and later found beheaded by Hamas, dancing and enjoying the music along with the crowd, moments before terrorists sacked the festival, slaughtering festival goers as they ran from the gunfire.

Before her beheaded body was discovered, her family held hope for weeks that she was still alive, despite widely circulated video footage showing her apparently lifeless body being desecrated by her captors.

Shani Louk was one of the festival goers kidnapped by Hamas militants when they attacked Israel on Saturday.

Speaking to Der Spiegel, Orly Louk said her niece, 22, refused to take up compulsory military service in Israel by using her German passport. She was "a convinced pacifist," Orly said, and a conscientious objector to military service.

Shani was seen in videos shared online, dancing alongside other festival-goers shortly before the attack which killed over 200. A later video showed her body on the back of a pick-up truck, surrounded by militants and children celebrating and desecrating her body. Her identity was confirmed by her family via her distinctive tattoos and dreadlocks.

Orly reportedly tried to not speak of Shani in the past tense during her interview with Der Spiegel, holding out hope that a family contact in Gaza would be able to deliver the family positive news.

The aunt described the 22-year-old as a globetrotter who grew up in Israel but was always welcomed by her relatives in Germany. She had moved halfway around the world to be with her Mexican boyfriend.

In an interview with CNN, Shani's mother Ricarda Louk said she was "at a music festival for peace," and that the situation was a nightmare for the family.

The festival was supposed to be a big outdoor party featuring electronic music.

"She loved that," Orly said of Shani. "She was so exuberant and happy."

The festival turned into a massacre when Hamas militants arrived in the early morning hours of Saturday, capturing some and executing others as festival-goers tried to flee.

Other stories have emerged from the attack, including that of Kim Damti whose last words to her mother were “Mummy, what should I do?," while the relatives of Noa Argamani are desperately trying to locate her.

Israel declared war on Hamas on Sunday, with support from world leaders including President Joe Biden, who said that Israel has a right to defend itself against terrorism. The Messenger is answering key questions about the conflict here.
