Shocked workers at a recycling plant in Thailand reportedly found two human legs in a shipment from the United States.

The legs were decomposed down to the bone, according to Sky News. They were discovered Tuesday at a plant outside of Sriracha, which is about 100 miles outside of Bangkok, in a delivery of cardboard sent for recycling.

Local police reported the feet still were attached and had socks on. One had a black shoe with a pink lace on it.

“I thought the bones were white poles,” a worker told local media. “But then I saw the knees and the trainers. I was shocked when I realized they were from a human.”

Thai police alerted U.S. authorities, who are concerned the remains may be from a victim whose body was hidden in a container and shipped across the Pacific, the Daily Mail reported.

“It is possible the person was the victim of a murder,” said Lt. Colonel Dechanut Thayasirichuti of Sriracha police. “It did not happen in our country though.”

Authorities believe the legs had been in the container for an extended period. They were sent to a police forensics team for analysis.
