LA Guy Who Pissed Off Half of NYC by Ordering a ‘Scooped’ Bagel Has a Message: ‘Los Angeles Has Better Bagels’ (Exclusive)
Taylor Offer told a story on TikTok about a bagel shop worker refusing to scoop his bagel. The video went viral, and New Yorkers had a lot to say.
Los Angeles native Taylor Offer arrived in New York on Wednesday for a five-day trip and managed to piss off half the city by Friday.
That’s because the 30-year-old Californian made a TikTok Thursday saying that “there’s nothing more stressful than ordering a bagel in New York City.”
Offer likes his bagels gluten-free and with the insides scooped out. But when he asked a bagel shop in Manhattan for a "scooped" bagel, the employee said “no.” Then the worker told Offer to “get the f— out of her with that s—.”
The Tiktok went viral, racking up more than three million views on the platform and tons more when it was reposted on X. Online, New Yorkers sided with the bagel guy, telling Offer a “scooped bagel is a crime.”
One person reposted his video on X and said "new york needs to start turning californians away at the border what the f— is this s—.”
But in an interview with The Messenger on Friday, Offer defended his position — and dared to boast that “Los Angeles has better bagels.”

He likes “Courage Bagels” in LA, which the New York Times featured in an article headlined “The Best Bagels Are in California (Sorry, New York).”
"That is better than any New York bagel,” said Offer, the CEO of the clothing brand Feat. He thinks most New York bagels rank somewhere between a six or eight of 10.
Courage Bagels is a “nine out of ten" to him. Still, he conceded that most average bagel places in the City of Angels are about a “four or five out of 10."
Offer isn’t fazed by some of the harsher comments online, which he isn’t reading. He insists all bagels should be scooped.
“It’s a better design,” he said. "If you had all bagels scooped, you could put the cream cheese in there, you could mix some lox in the cream cheese with capers and put it all in there. All bagels should be hollow. It's good.”
In Offer’s defense, plenty of people in the New York City area scoop their bagels, usually to cut down on the carbs.
And he has other hot takes too. “I don’t think New York pizza is that good. I think it's overrated,” he said.
What else? “I also think it's stupid that nightlife goes so late in New York.”
Despite the backlash, Offer is enjoying his trip. He even said would consider moving to the Big Apple.
“If I could find a place that will scoop my bagels maybe I would,” he said.
