Surveillance footage caught the moment carjackers took off with a United Postal Service truck while its driver was delivering packages in a Maryland neighborhood.

The UPS driver was delivering packages in Prince George’s County, located along the eastern border of Washington, D.C., on Thursday around 2 p.m. when she noticed someone get into her truck.

In the video, published by local TV station Fox 5 Washington DC, the UPS driver can be seen staring at the carjackers, who quickly take off from the curb. The UPS driver can be seen holding various packages.

Fox 5 reported that she yelled out that her truck had been stolen at gunpoint.

A neighbor who shared the surveillance footage told the local news outlet that he initially thought the yelling was due to a couple fighting outside his home.

“It’s very brazen, in the middle of the day,” the neighbor said. “Most of the homes have cameras, so to do that right in front of everybody’s house who has front view cameras, it’s a little unnerving.”

Officers with the Prince George’s County Police Department responded to the scene after the UPS driver called them to report the incident. The police department did not immediately return The Messenger’s request for more information.

“You hope things get a little better,” the neighbor said. “Maybe it’s the climate, but it’s unfortunate you have to be vigilant and watch your back.”
