A Las Vegas man accused of murder may have referenced the alleged crime in a rap video he posted on YouTube, according to an arrest warrant.

Kenjuan McDaniel, 25, was arrested on Aug. 29 in connection to the Sept. 18, 2021, fatal shooting of 32-year-old Randall Wallace at an apartment complex, local station KLAS reported.

In the nearly two years since the shooting, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has been piecing together evidence pointing them to McDaniel as the suspect, the outlet reported.

In July, a detective found a music video McDaniel posted online and the lyrics appeared to reference the crime, including the line “I’m the reason why you dead,” according to the arrest warrant reviewed by KSNV.

Other lyrics included “Brought it with that fire, hear that ‘ah’, see your body twitching,” and  "Ran up and drew, y'all left him dead, dropped off like a razor,” according to the warrant, per the news outlet.

Officers wrote in the arrest warrant that McDaniel included details in his music video that “were not released to the public and would not be common knowledge," KSNV reported.

The particular lyric that appeared to incriminate McDaniel was a line where he detailed driving to and approaching the apartment complex. Police said he “re-enacted” the murder, “which was consistent with evidence on the scene,” according to the arrest warrant, as cited by KLAS.

"The facts gathered during the investigation were obtained separately from the music video. The music video further validates the results of the investigation,” officers wrote in the arrest warrant, per KSNV.

The video included a reference to the victim’s nickname as well, according to the arrest warrant, per KLAS.

McDaniel came on the police’s radar after a detective working the case was contacted and given a street name of a possible suspect, according to the warrant.

Then, a review of known organized crime members in the area who went by that name allegedly identified McDaniel, who had a criminal history including robbery and multiple arrests, KSNV reported. Officers connected the car captured on surveillance video from the crime scene to McDaniel’s girlfriend, according to the warrant.

McDaniel was previously arrested in 2018 after police accused him of shooting at four people inside a mall. He pleaded guilty to ownership of a firearm as a prohibited person in December, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

His preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 14, and he is being held at the Clark County Detention Center on murder charges, KLAS reported.
