A group of pro-Palestinian protesters disrupted the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City Thursday morning by gluing themselves to the roadway along the parade route in front of a balloon.

The protesters, dressed in white jumpsuits, unfurled a banner that read "liberation for Palestine and planet" in front of the parade on Sixth Avenue in Manhattan.

The protesters poured red liquid over themselves as they chanted the slogan, according to video posted by the journalist online.

The demonstrators disrupted the parade in front of a green dinosaur balloon that was reportedly sponsored by the Sinclair Oil Corporation.

Newsday reporter Mathew Chayes also posted video of the scene on X, formerly known as Twitter, and said floats, bands and balloons were being diverted because of the action.

Other protesters carried a sign that read "Genocide Then. Genocide Now," presumably referencing the massacre of indigenous people in the U.S. and the unfolding war in Gaza.

The parade continued on its normal schedule after police took protesters into custody.

In a separate instance, a person on a float led by the Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe held a Palestinian flag up for the crowd to see.
