Pro-Palestinian Group Calls for ‘Mass Mobilization’ at College Campuses Across the United States

At least six SJP chapters across the nation plan to partake in on-campus movements that have the potential to create 'a hostile environment for Jewish students'

The national chapter of a pro-Palestinian student-led group is calling for “mass mobilization” at college campuses across the United States in response to the Israel-Hamas war.

In a “call to action,” the National Students for Justice in Palestine is urging students to “mobilize” for a “national day of resistance” Thursday in support of Palestinians in the Hamas-perpetrated battle, according to a post on the organization’s social media.

“Our people have broken down the artificial barriers of the Zionist entity, taking with it the facade of an impenetrable settler colony and reminding each of us that total return and liberation to Palestine is near,”  the SJP wrote on Instagram earlier this week, encouraging student supporters to rally.

“Catching the enemy completely by surprise, the Palestinian resistance has captured over a dozen settlements surrounding Gaza, along with many occupation soldiers and military vehicles. This is what it means to Free Palestine: not just slogans and rallies, but armed confrontation with the oppressors.”

At least six SJP chapters across the nation plan to partake in on-campus movements that have the potential to create “a hostile environment for Jewish students,” including Arizona State University, University of Arizona, Butler University, University of Louisville, University of Binghamton and the University of Virginia, according to the Anti-Defamation League, while Michigan State University and the University of Mary Washington plan to gather off-campus, less than a week after Hamas militants launched a surprise blitz at an Israeli music festival.

Speaking with The Hill, Micah Gritz, COO of Jewish on Campus, said being a Jewish college student recently has been “scary.”

“We’re seeing students either turn a blind eye to the conflict, or we’re seeing those who are openly celebrating our pain… glorifying it, justifying it,” the Tufts University student said. “They’re casting the murder of Jews and Israelis as progressive, as liberation. It’s just honestly very, very scary as a Jewish student on campus who has friends and family in Israel.”

At least 260 concertgoers were massacred in a shocking attack at an Israeli music festival Saturday in southern Israel, prompting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to officially declare war the following day.

Israel’s death toll rose to 1,200 on Wednesday — including 22 Americans —while deaths in Palestine grew to 1,050.

It is believed an estimated 150 Israeli hostages are being held captive in various locations across the Gaza Strip.
