Fight Between 2 Men in Philly Subway Station Results in 1 Being Killed by Oncoming Train
The death is being investigated as a homicide
A man was fatally struck by a subway train in Philadelphia on Thursday after a "physical altercation."
The confrontation happened at around 4:30 p.m. on the eastbound platform at the 34th Street Station on the Market-Frankford Line, Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) police told CBS News Philadelphia.
SEPTA said two men engaged in a physical altercation and one ended up on the tracks. The man was struck by a train and later pronounced dead.
A person of interest was taken into custody at 40th Street Station, but police later said he did not match the description of the suspect who engaged in the altercation, PhillyVoice reported.
Service was shut down between 30th and 40th Street Stations until shortly after 7 p.m. SEPTA provided shuttle buses to affected riders.
SEPTA is reviewing surveillance footage from the incident.
