A Columbus, Ohio police chief came under fire after a father shared a video of police officers blaming his 11-year-old daughter for being groomed by a child predator

The father said he called the police to report that his daughter was manipulated into sending explicit images to a grown man. He later posted a video taken with his doorbell cam to social media showing a female police officer explaining that his daughter could be punished for creating “child porn.”

“She could probably get charged with child porn,” the officer said.

The father replied, “Who, she can? She’s 11-years-old.”

“She’s creating it,” the officer said.

“She’s 11 years old,” the father reiterated.

“It doesn’t matter. She’s still making porn,” the officer retorted.

The police chief, Elaine Bryant, posted a statement Tuesday night apologizing for the officer’s behavior. The department has since opened an investigation into the incident, the statement read.

"My expectation is that our officers treat every victim of crime with compassion, decency, and dignity," Bryant said in the statement. "What I saw in that video did not reflect that.”

The father of the victim posted the video to Facebook Friday night and again on Monday to TikTok. The video quickly became viral, brewing an army of outraged viewers.

One angry commenter replied to the video, “That's insane! I would have asked to speak to their supervisor.” Another said, “This is insane! Who are they protecting?”

The father who goes by the username 3wolf6mafia on TikTok said in the post that he called the police at 6 p.m., but they did not show up until nearly midnight. The officers were also heard chatting about their favorite flavors of soda before the father answered the door.

“I want to make clear — this incident does not reflect the Division as a whole," Bryant said in her statement. "Our officers do outstanding work to bring comfort and justice to victims every day.”

"As soon as we learned of this incident, we immediately reached out to the father to apologize, and to assure him that this matter was being fully investigated — both the actions of this officer, and more importantly, any crime committed against his child,” the statement continued.

Bryant concluded her statement by saying that the case had been passed off to the department’s Inspector General.
