A dad who is believed to have murdered his fiancee and two young sons before killing himself was reportedly stressed about leaving New York City and moving to the suburbs.

The murder-suicide occurred in the family's Upper West Side apartment on Monday, August 28. The bodies of 3-year-old Lucien, 1-year-old Calvin, and 40-year-old Alexandra Witek were found in a common area of their apartment with numerous stab wounds.

Police believe that Edison Lopez stabbed and killed all of them before stabbing himself in the neck. The 41-year-old's body was found on the bed.

People who knew the family were shocked, as neighbors told the New York Post that they were "a great family" and there were  "zero, absolutely zero [signs]" that anything was wrong.

Authorities have not announced a motive for Lopez to murder his family and himself, though NYPD Assistant Chief of Detectives Joe Kenny told reporters there may have been "some problems with the timing of the relocation."

The family of four was set to move at the end of the month, as Lopez had gotten a new job in Westchester. However, the new apartment was reportedly not ready for the family.
