New York Hospital Suspends Two Doctors Over Posts on Israel-Hamas War: Report
The two doctors are the latest individuals to lose their positions after posting content related to the ongoing conflict
Two doctors reportedly have been suspended from their jobs at New York hospitals after allegedly sharing social media posts critical of Israel-Hamas war.
A statement from New York University Langone Health confirms officials have decided to discipline physicians Dr. Zaki Masoud and Dr. Benjamin Neel.
Masoud, a resident at NYU Langone Winthrop Hospital on Long Island, called the Oct. 7 attacks "liberation" and "revolution" in an Instagram post last week. His post was highlighted by the X account StopAntisemitism.
The hospital, in a post to X, said Masoud had "been removed from service" and that "a process leading to termination has commenced."
Added NYU Langone Health: "We will not tolerate reprehensible statements condoning hatred or violence, which have no place at our institution. All employees are held to this high standard."
Neel, a director at Perlmutter Cancer Center in Manhattan, was suspended from his job after reposting anti-Palestinian sentiments via social media.
"Dr. Benjamin Neel has been suspended from his role as director of the Laura and Isaac Perlmutter Cancer Center," reads a statement to The Messenger. "Zaki Masoud has been removed from service as a resident at NYU Langone Hospital-Long Island. We are following our investigative and disciplinary processes in both matters."

The two doctors are the latest individuals whose jobs were affected after they posted content related to the ongoing conflict.
Earlier this month, an Illinois state employee lost her job for online antisemitic posts. Citibank also axed an employee who voiced views on the war online. And this week, a lecturer at the University of San Diego was let go after sharing a sketch depicting the decapitation of Palestinian babies by a rolling Star of David.
Additionally, colleges and universities across the U.S. have seen sharp divisions among staff and students since the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attack on Israel that killed some 1,400 Israelis.
On Monday, Jewish students at Columbia University reported they no longer felt safe, while also noting an increase in Islamophobia on campus, too. Cornell University student Patrick Dai was arrested on Tuesday over anonymous "violent" threats he'd allegedly made towards Jewish students, which were shared over the weekend on a college forum.
At Harvard University, the president announced Friday she was putting together an assemblage of advisors to help combat recent incidences of antisemitism at the school.
