A teenager has been arrested in Las Vegas and charged with threatening to inflict terroristic acts in the name of ISIS, police said this week.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Chief Dori Koren said authorities became aware of threats allegedly made by a 16-year-old, who hasn’t been named because of age, to attack the Las Vegas Valley as a “lone-wolf terrorist.”

“The threat involved the suspect that claimed he was commencing lone-wolf terroristic attacks here in Las Vegas in furtherance of support for the Islamic State terrorist organization also known as ISIS,” Koren said Friday, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Koren said detectives in his department became aware of the teen’s alleged threats on Tuesday through social media, but didn’t elaborate on which platforms or the threats.

A message displayed at the chief’s press conference Friday indicated the sender allegedly identified himself as “a supporter” of the Islamic State group who was seeking other supporters to assist him in attacks.

The police chief said when they arrested the teen at his home without incident, they found a handmade ISIS flag and headband, handmade ISIS patches, ISIS propaganda, antisemitic threats and bomb-making recipes.

Koren didn't give details of alleged threats or locations.

The teenager faces multiple charges in connection with the case, including five counts of possession of explosive components, Koren said.

Koren said there are no other known threats in the Las Vegas Valley.
