A murder suspect has been captured after he was mistakenly released from jail due to a clerical error.

Kevin Mason was captured by the United States Marshal Service in St. Paul, Minnesota, two weeks after he was released from the Marion County jail in Indiana. The sheriff’s office blamed a “faulty records review by civilian staff” on how Mason, who was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of Dontevius Catchings, walked free.

Mason left Indianapolis after he was released from jail, the sheriff’s office said. He was considered armed and dangerous, prompting the U.S. Marshals to offer a $10,000 reward for information leading to Mason’s capture.

“I would like to extend my sincere gratitude and congratulations to the USMS for concluding this manhunt and safely bringing Mason back into custody,” Marion County Sheriff Kerry J. Forestal said in a statement.

Two sheriff’s office employees were terminated due to Mason’s accidental release, the agency said.
