Two Los Angeles high school students were hospitalized after being stabbed during a brawl at Van Nuys High School, on Wednesday.

Two other students were also injured during the fight — one was treated on the scene, while another was also brought to a nearby hospital.

All of the injured victims were teenage boys, under 18. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening, police said, according to KNBC.

Los Angeles School District Superintendent Alberto Carvalho said that the incident began when 11 students got into a fight on campus.

During the altercation, one student used a weapon to stab two other students. In addition to the students with stab wounds, two other students were also injured during the fight, KNBC reports.

Emergency services were contacted shortly before 11 a.m. and both the police and fire departments responded to the scene.

"This is one of those moments where you hold your breath and hope the initial information is not as bad as what actually occurred," said Carvalho, according to KTTV. "One incident like this one is one incident too many."

The school will remain on lockdown until given the all-clear by law enforcement. There is no current threat to students and staff, according to a post made by Carvalho on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that multiple students were stabbed and that the attacker remains at large.

Carvalho said that three students were detained for questioning, according to KNBC.
