A Georgia mother of five was killed last weekend when she got out of her car on the highway to help a stranger and was struck by another vehicle.

Sarah Bolt, 38, was hit by a car while attempting to provide aid to a driver who crashed into the median on Interstate 75 South, Marietta Police told 11 Alive. She was brought to a local hospital where she later died.

Her husband, Robert Bolt, told the channel she was always helping other people, no matter the circumstance.

"Whatever she was doing, she was always looking out for other people, not herself,” he said.

She had just given birth to her fifth child six months ago, he said.

The incident occurred after a driver of a Kia Sedona lost control on Saturday morning around 12:45 a.m. and crashed into the median, 11 Alive said. The driver tried to move the car and was hit by other cars in the process.

When Bolt got out to help in the chaotic scene, a driver of a Dodge Challenger struck her and another person, who was hospitalized with serious injuries but survived, 11 Alive reported.

Nobody has been charged in the incident yet, but police are still investigating and working to determine if they will file criminal charges.

“The idea that she would stop on a highway to help somebody that was in trouble. It's just part of who she was,” her father Rob Roper told 11 Alive. "We're going to miss her. We're all going to miss her terribly. She's just leaving a huge hole in our life."
