Baltimore police on Tuesday night said there were five people shot in an "active shooter situation" on the campus of Morgan State University.

The shooting happened around 9:25 pm ET when five people, four of whom were students, were shot, Police Commissioner Richard Worley told the media in a press conference.

The victims, who all suffered non-life threatening wounds, ranged in age from 18 to 22, Worley said.

Police did not release much in the way of detail about the shooting, but noted multiple windows were shattered, so an active shooter situation was determined and that response was initiated, Worley said.

"We did not locate the suspect at this time. We are still investigating," he said late Tuesday. Worley declined to offer any other information during the ongoing investigation.

University President Dr. David K. Wilson said the shooting took place during the annual coronation event for homecoming.

Around midnight ET, police the situation was no longer "active" be declined to say more. The campus' shelter-in-place order was also lifted around 12:30 a.m. local time.

"I am on scene at Morgan State, with university leadership, BPD, and our federal and state law enforcement partners. This is no longer considered an active shooter situation, but is an ongoing investigation. Media briefing to come soon," Mayor Brandon M. Scott said via X.

The condition of the five victims was not immediately apparent.

Baltimore police urged residents to avoid the area of the 1700 block of Argonne Drive near the school as the investigation is ongoing.
