A driver who was involved in a fatal crash killing six construction workers in Baltimore last year pleaded guilty to six felony charges Wednesday morning.

Melachi Brown, 20, was one of the two people charged in the crash that occurred on I-695 last March. He pleaded guilty to six felony manslaughter charges as part of a plea deal, each count carrying up to 24 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, Brown was driving at 121 mph when his car was hit by 54-year-old Lisa Lea, who was reportedly trying to change lanes. Lea’s car caused Brown's car to ricochet into the construction site and hit the workers.

Lea was allegedly driving at 108 mph, per prosecutors. She has yet to go on trial, according to CBS.

Brown and Lea face up to a combined 55 charges, according to reporting from CBS News.

Brown still maintains the right to file for a new trial in 10 days, but he’s limited in trying to get an appeal if he files for a new trial. Under the plea agreement reached, Brown will serve 18 months in prison then three years of supervised probation, in addition to 40 hours of community service, according to WBALTV.

Both defendants were charged with six counts of felony negligent manslaughter by vehicle, six counts of death of a vulnerable person and several traffic violations.

The six workers who were killed in the incident were identified by prosecutors as Carlos Orlando Villatoro Escobar, Rolando Ruiz, Jose Armando Escobar, Mahlon Simmons III, Mahlon Simmons II and Sybil Lee Dimaggio.
