Man Allegedly Recorded Female Penn State Students in Dorm Showers
Police say that he concealed the videos in an app that was designed to look like a calculator
A Pennsylvania man was arrested after he allegedly filmed female students at Penn State while they were in the shower.
Xinyu Li, 24, allegedly snuck into a dorm at Penn State’s University Park campus, by following people entering the secured building, according to WTAJ.
Female students contacted the university police on two occasions – on October 7 and October 14 – reporting that they had seen a phone camera directed towards the showers, according to the campus crime logs.
Police say surveillance footage showed the suspect entering the dorm on both dates. On the second occasion, the footage also revealed that the suspect left the dorm in a Ford F-150, according to WTAJ.
After searching the car’s registration records, police discovered that it was owned by Comet Tech, Inc – a company which stores and moves items for college students, according to WTAJ.
A LinkedIn page belonging to a man named Xinyu Li lists him as the company’s president.
Police conducted surveillance on the truck, before pulling Li over, for a traffic stop on October 20. He was taken into custody but told police that he felt guilty and deleted the showering videos. A subsequent search of his phone revealed that the videos were hidden in an app designed to look like a calculator, according to WTAJ.
