Maine Mass Shooting: Authorities at Suspect’s Home Ordering Someone to Exit With Hands Up: ‘You’re Under Arrest’
However, after hours of waiting and demands, it was determined the suspect was not inside
Police in Bowdoin, Maine, surrounded a house believed to belong to suspected mass shooter Robert Card, demanding he leave the house with his hands up, according to local reports.
However, after hours of waiting and demands, it was determined the suspect was not inside.
Prior, a helicopter was circling above the area while a spotlight shone on the home.
"Robert Card, you're under arrest. We know you're inside, come out with your hands up. We don't want anyone to get hurt," police said on a megaphone outside the home, per WMTW reporter Connor Clement.
It is unclear whether the suspect is in the home from the start, Maine State Police said in a statement.

"Law enforcement officials are simply doing their due diligence by tracking down every lead in an effort to locate and apprehend Card," police said in the statement.
Card is accused of opening fire in a bowling alley and bar in Lewiston, Maine, on Wednesday, killing 18 people and injuring 13 more. The Just-In-Time Recreation bowling alley was hosting a youth league at the time of the mass shooting.
His sister reportedly speculated that Card may have been "looking for an ex-girlfriend" at the bowling alley.
The 40-year-old suspect with a military background was identified as an "armed and dangerous" person of interest. He was treated for an unknown mental illness over the summer after being accused of threatening to shoot up a military base in Saco, Maine, according to multiple reports.
The search for Card has shuttered schools and businesses around the state. Officials believed the suspect may have fled on the Kennebec River aboard his 15-foot boat.
