One of four teenagers involved in the brutal death of a 73-year-old grandmother in a Louisiana carjacking has been sentenced to life in prison, according to local reports.

John Honore, now 18, was sentenced Friday for the March 2022 murder of Linda Frickey. The sentencing came after a day of tearful testimony from Frickey's loved ones in court.

“There is no remorse, he got what he deserved. He did it,” Frickey’s sister, Jinnylynn Griffin, said outside the courthouse after the sentence was handed down, according to WWL-TV. “We don’t care what happened before March 21, 2022, that’s the day we worry about."

Honore was 17 at the time of the attack. He and three teenage girls jumped Frickey in a carjacking in New Orleans. Authorities said he pepper-sprayed her, pulled her out of her car, stomped on her head and left the scene in her vehicle.

The Messenger previously reported that Frickey had been caught in the seatbelt of the car, and dragged about 700 feet as Honore drove off, leaving her “skinned alive,” prosecutors said. Her arm also was torn off from her body, prosecutors said in court. Frickey died from blunt force trauma.

In court, Honore’s defense attorneys asked Criminal District Court Judge Kimya Holmes to consider a lighter sentence, citing the teen's unstable upbringing, an argument that didn’t land with family members of Frickey.

Family members of Frickey also made strong statements from the witness stand, directly addressing Honore.

"When you take your last breath, may the only thing you hear be the hellhounds coming for you, to drag your ass back down to where you belong," said Kathy Richard, Frickey’s sister-in-law, according to Nola.com. "Personally, I hope you don’t make it out of there [prison], and that those hellhounds come after you quick."

Griffin called him a “little punk,” emphasizing that she believed he got what he deserved.

“He’s a little jerk, he’s a little punk, and he deserves to go where he is going. He is a demon, and God saw that demon that day, and that’s how Linda’s arm got severed,” she said, per WWL-TV. “We put away the demons now. And the future demons, they better look out because the DA’s office is not playing anymore.”

Honore, who was tried as an adult in the trial, has a shot at parole after serving 25 years because he was a minor at the time of the killing. The other three teenagers who were involved in Frickey’s death pleaded guilty to attempted manslaughter in November and got 20-year prison sentences.
