Police in Virginia located an escaped prisoner from Wisconsin using License Plate Reader (LPR) technology on Friday.

Alexandria Police Department’s Community Assistance Safety Team arrested Dustin Bone, a wanted fugitive who escaped from Sanger B. Powers Correctional Center in Oneida on Sept. 11, according to a police news release.

Officials located the stolen vehicle Bone was driving using LPR technology.

“This arrest is a great example of how we use the newest technology tools in our continued effort to keep our community safe,” Alexandria Police Chief Don Hayes said in a statement.

Bone was serving a seven year sentence for armed robbery. He was about two months away from being released to extended supervision, FOX 11 News reported.

He was arrested without incident and is currently being held in the William G. Truesdale Adult Detention Center in Alexandria. He will remain there until he can be extradited back to Wisconsin, according to WUSA 9.
