Lee Redmond of Utah, known for holding the female world record for the longest fingernails for nearly two decades, recently passed away at the age of 82 on December 14.

Her obituary stated she was "devoted to her family and after her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her the most happiness."

In 2003, Redmond unveiled her iconic nails to the world. She had been growing them since 1979 and they were 24' 7.8" long, earning her the record for longest fingernails on a pair of hands (female) by Guinness World Records.

By 2008, they were 28' 4.5'' long.

Usually, nails of such extreme length tend to curl, but Redmond maintained hers so well that they formed long arches. She claimed that despite the length of her nails, she could perform tasks like washing dishes and using her phone.

In 2009, Redmond was in a car accident that caused her to lose her iconic nails, but she continued to hold the world record until it was broken by Diana Armstrong in 2022.

"In the eyes of the world, she may be the woman in Guinness World Records, but to us, she'll forever be the cherished heartbeat of our family - our beloved mom, grandma, and friend," her obituary read.

Redmond's funeral is set to take place in Utah on December 21.
