A tour bus driving through upstate New York flipped over on Friday, killing one and injuring multiple other passengers and shutting down the roadway.

At least one person was killed in the crash, Albany television station WNYT reported.

The incident happened Friday afternoon on I-87 between Warrensburg and Lake George, in the state’s Adirondack region.

The bus rolled over on the interstate, state police said.

It is unclear what exactly caused the bus to flip, but police closed the southbound interstate between Exits 23 and 22 for “an extended period of time.”

Police did not immediately share how many passengers were on board or the exact conditions of those injured.

State police and the Department of Transportation were actively performing rescues Friday afternoon, said Gov. Kathy Hochul.

“I join the people of New York in praying for the well-being of all involved in this horrific incident and am deeply grateful for the heroic efforts of our first responders,” the governor said.

At least one person was transported to a hospital by helicopter and nine ambulances were used to transport injured passengers, WNYT reported.
