A North Carolina man was sentenced Tuesday to three consecutive sentences of life in prison without parole for killing his mother and grandparents in 2020.

Jordan Tyshone Meade, now 24, pleaded guilty to the three murders, which took place on March 26, 2020, local news station WNCN reported.

All three victims died as a result of gunshot wounds to the head, authorities said, per that news station.

Grandparents Geraldine A. Hawks, 60, and Emmitt Jordan Hawks Sr., 71, were discovered dead at one home. Jackqueline Meade, 48, the suspect's mother, was discovered dead next door, WNCN reported.

A motive for the trio of slayings was not clear. WNCN did report Meade has been diagnosed with mental disorders, but they were not used as a defense in the case.

Meade also pleaded guilty to two larceny counts for stealing a gun and a vehicle, per the station. He will receive between 6–17 months tacked onto his life sentences.
