Two men from Hawaii face felony charges that could send them to prison for years for stealing oranges from a farm.

The County of Hawaii prosecutor says 41-year-old Kellen Tolentino and 38-year-old Joshua Reding-Kellogg, both of Honokaa, stole more than 75 pounds of the citrus fruit from a Kalopa farm on Sept. 2.

The men face a potentially harsh sentence because the oranges were worth more than $100.

The men made their initial appearances on Tuesday in Hilo District Court.

Tolentino and Reding-Kellogg were each charged with theft and criminal trespass.

The theft charge is a more serious felony offense that could send them to prison for five years.

Prosecuting Attorney Kelden Waltjen says bail for each was set at $2,250 for each of the accused.

Both were released on supervised release over the prosecutor's objections. They were ordered to return for preliminary hearings on September 19, 2023, in South Kohala District Court.
