As the war between Israel and Hamas enters its second month, Israeli politician Benny Gantz warned the families of those held hostage in Gaza that Hamas will use "psychological warfare in the most sensitive and painful places."

"Hamas is absorbing tough blows on the battlefield," said the retired army general, on Sunday, according to the Times of Israel.

"The military pressure on [Hamas] is also serving the efforts to bring back the hostages."

An estimated 200 people are being held captive by Hamas – though five have been freed in recent days.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that there will be no ceasefire until all the hostages are released from Gaza, on Sunday.

These statements follow worldwide protests, calling for an end to the war which has left thousands of Palestinian and Israeli civilians dead, injured or displaced.
