Indiana Woman Arrested After Two Children, Ages 1 and 3, Found Dead in Home
Brittany Medina was arrested Tuesday in the city of Mitchell after the bodies were discovered by police
In an unusual move, police in Indiana have charged a 33-year-old woman with the alleged murders of two young children before their autopsies have been completed.
Indiana State Police confirmed that Brittany Medina was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon after the children were discovered dead in her home in the city of Mitchell.
The police statement reads, "At approximately 4 p.m., at the request of the Mitchell Police Department, Bloomington Post detectives responded to 1211 Brook Street to investigate the deaths of a male child, Age 3, and a female child, Age 1."
It further states, "A female subject, identified as Brittany Medina, 33, has been arrested for two counts of murder."
The statement did not specify the suspect's relationship with the victims. However, Medina's Facebook page shows several photos of two young children, a boy and a girl.
According to a post, she claims the boy is her son and was born in 2020. Recent photos label the girl, who looks very young, as her daughter.
